Summer Activities in Morzine
Whether you’re after a relaxing break in the mountains or as much adrenaline as you can source, Morzine and the Portes du Soleil has it all. We’ve detailed below some of the most popular and our favourite activites below.
Walking and Hiking
Explore the area on foot and embark on one of the many hiking trails in the Portes du Soleil area! Trails range from nice gentle walks to the challenging heights of the Ressachaux and Pointe de Nyon. Click here for the official Morzine hiking guide.
Many of the ski lifts are also available to pedestrians, and can be accessed with single-trip passes or a Multi-pass (around €15 per day) which works out better value than a full lift pass (required for mountain biking).
Mountain Biking
One of the most popular draws to the Portes du Soleil during the summer months, Morzine offers a fantastic set up for mountain bikers of all ages and abilities. Click here for the Pleney (Morzine) and Super Morzine (Avoriaz) bike park information including trails, maps and opening dates.
Road Cycling
For those preferring a smoother ride, the Portes du Soleil is home to some iconic road biking routes. Most notably is the Col de Joux Plane which is a high mountain pass linking Morzine with Samoëns, and has featured several times in the Tour de France.
Morzine Aquatic Centre
Offering outdoor and indoor swimming pools, water slides, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and spa treatments! Click here for more information and prices.
Lac de Montriond
Montriond is just one of many beautiful lakes in the area, offering opportunities for swimming, and other water-based activities like paddle-boarding and kayaking. For anyone preferring to stay on dry land, there’s a nice (relatively flat) walk around the lake to enjoy the beautiful scenery, or simply stop for a picnic on the shore!
Tree Top Adventures
The Indiana Parc located in Parc des Dérêches offers a nature circuit, made up of ladders and footbridges between the trees. Cascade Adventures also offer a Tree Top walk in the heart of the forest, with the Neon waterfall in the background. There’s also options just to enjoy the two large zip lines, located 40m above the waterfall!
Luge
The 4 season alpine coaster in Les Gets is open all year round, offering great fun for all the family! Hop aboard at the Perrières parking area, and enjoy a downhill track of over 1km at speeds up to 40km/h!
There is also a summer sledge in Morzine on the lower slopes of Pleney which is open during the peak summer season.
Paragliding
Experience Morzine and the Portes du Soleil from a different perspective by tandem paragliding with a qualified instructor. Aireole are just one of the operators offering paragliding flights in the area. For those just wanting to watch, check out one of the bars or restaurants located next to the landing point at the foot of the Pleney slopes!
Canyoning
Cascade Adventures offer a great canyoning experience, near the Nyon waterfall. You will cross gorges and narrow ravines, abseil down and slide down natural slides, and jump from the top of several waterfalls!
White Water Rafting
Enjoy an adrenaline-filled half day white water rafting experience on the Dranse river! AN Rafting and Frogs Rafting are just a couple of the great rafting operators in the area.
Les Gorges du Pont du Diable
Located in the exceptional forest environment of Sylvester Park, the gorge at Port du Diable offers a striking picture of the power of erosion. Today Morzine’s Dranse river rushes through the deep crack, where you can experience staircases and footbridges high above the river.
