La Tania Events Calendar
Summer 2023
Fancy being a spectator at one of the biggest road cycling events in the world!? Or come and join us at one of the traditional local fêtes? Here’s our quick guide to the highlights of the La Tania (and surrounding area!) summer events calendar:
Punta Bagna Bike Rally, Courchevel 1850
- Friday 30th June to Sunday 2nd July
Courchevel will be holding one of the largest European motorcycle shows, with live music and events across the 3-day weekend.
Fête des Bûcherons, La Tania
- Sunday 16th July
A local Lumberjack event with stalls and artisanals, and the infamous (!?) wood chopping competition!
Tour de France, Col de la Loze
- Wednesday 19th July
One not to miss! The route heads up the valley from Brides les Bains, to Courchevel Le Praz and La Tania, and then heading towards Meribel. From Meribel the riders will head up and over the challenging Col de la Loze, with some gradients steeper than 20%. From the summit they will descend at pace down into Courchevel 1850 before a final push to the finish at Courchevel altiport. An absolute cracker of a stage, especially when you consider it started in Saint-Gervais in the Haute-Savoie!
- Thursday 20th July
Thursdays stage kicks off in Moutiers and heads off towards Bourg-en-Bresse for a much flatter day, with only 3 stages left to go after todays stage.
Fête de la Madelon, Courchevel Le Praz
- Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd July
Another opportunity to experience a local fête, head to Courchevel Le Praz (just 5 minutes from La Tania) to join the villagers celebrating the Patron Saint of Courchevel Le Praz. Featuring a local craft market, funfair and games, traditional music, dancing and lots of Savoyard food!
Millet XTrail Courchevel
- Sunday 23rd July
Not for the faint hearted… Courchevel hosts the Xtrail race event, with trail running course lengths varying from 11 to 33km!
Summer Ski Jumping World Cup, Le Praz
- Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th July
Yep, you read that right! Ski jumping… in summer! (Previously scheduled for 5/6th August)
Fête de la Fanfoue, Les Allues
- Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th August
A wonderful event in Les Allues showcasing local customs and cultures, which usually features a traditional fête on the Saturday evening, followed by local stalls on the Sunday morning. Our highlight is the Sunday morning when the donkeys descend down from Glacier de Gebroulaz with some ice in their packs after spending 3 days hiking up. This follows an old tradition from when ice was used to keep cheeses and meats cool in the caves underneath buildings during the summer months.
Tour de l’Avenir, Col de la Loze
- Friday 25th August
Another cycle tour graces us with its presence this summer where we’ll get to see the stars of the future performing! Stage 6 starts in Meribel and has a spectacular summit finish at the top of the Col de la Loze. Over 60km’s of racing and with an elevation gain of nearly 2,400m, we can safely say it’s mostly climbing!
