Portes du Soleil: Top 10 Ski Runs You Can’t Miss

by Peter Richards | 14th November 2025

Staying in the Portes du Soleil area, you have access to over 600km of ski pistes and over 200 ski lifts. These runs are spread across the Swiss and French sides of Portes du Soleil, covering a variety of difficulty levels. Perfect for mixing up your days.  Here’s some of our highlights:

⚫ (Extreme!) Swiss Wall – Avoriaz/Champéry

Probably the most iconic “must attempt if you dare” run in the PdS. Huge moguls, steep gradient (up to ~40-50%), very variable snow. Not groomed. If you have the skill and courage, this is the one.

🔴 Tovassière Trail – Morgins

Beautiful scenic run from Pointe des Mossettes, long descent into Morgins. Lovely mountain valley scenery, great place for a long afternoon cruise.

🔵 Bleue d’Arabe – Avoriaz

Wide, sweeping blue, excellent snow retention (north-facing portions), very scenic with views. Good long blue for confidence or for warming up.

⚫ La Coupe de Monde – Avoriaz

Long, high altitude, great snow, good vertical drop. Historic in pedigree (used in competition).

🔵/🔴 The Mossettes Run – French-Swiss border

Offers a mix — ridge line skiing, good views (including the stunning Dent du Midi range), sections vary; ends in French side via Lindarets etc.  Good flow and variety.

🔴 Bonavau – Morgins

A longer red run, named after the local Olympic downhill champion. Great descent into Morgins. Nice Swiss chalet & valley character.

🔴 Le Linga – Châtel

Has steep sections especially near top, then becomes fast, wide red. Good test for upper intermediates / strong skiers.

🔵 (Can feel more mixed!) Le Crôt – Avoriaz

A satisfying run coming back toward Prodains, with steep bits, rollers, can get bumpy. Excellent for closing out a big day.

🔴/⚫ Chamossière – Avoriaz

Choose from two runs down from the top of Chamossière – it’s one of the longest top-to-bottoms in the area (~11 km) with good vertical descent (~1000m).  Scenic and varied terrain.

🔴  Ripaille – Champéry

A charming red that gives you Swiss charm — chalet-houses, valley views, beautiful terrain, good length. Might be gentler in late afternoon depending on snow.
