A ski holiday with young children can be a great way to spend quality time with your family and enjoy the outdoors.

Here are some ideas of activities that you can do with young children on a ski holiday and enjoy family friendly adventures!

Snow play:

Children love playing in the snow, and there are many activities you can do with them such as building a snowman, making snow angels, or having a snowball fight!

Sledging:

If you don’t have your own, don’t worry – sledges will be available to hire or buy locally in resort!  Many resorts also have dedicated luge runs too which are amazing fun for older kids.

Take ski lessons:

How early can you learn to ski!?  In most resorts, ESF Pioupiou (ski kindergarten) starts from age 3, and most ski schools offer children’s group lessons from age 4.  Private lessons are generally available from any age, and are tailored to your child.  Children’s lessons are specially designed to teach the basics of skiing in a safe environment, while having lots of fun.

If you’re travelling during peak dates, we strongly recommend to book early to avoid disappointment.

Staying in Courchevel Le Praz?

ESF Courchevel 1850 offer Drago’s Castle, a specialist ski nursery available from 18 months to 3 years, which is easily accessible via the Le Praz gondola.  The nursery provides a range of indoor and outdoor activities to keep children entertained, with half day and full day options available.

Already getting confident on skis!?

Most ski resorts have themed beginner zones for little ones to enjoy!  Be sure to check out the Western Park in Courchevel, the Buffalo Park in La Plagne and Chemin des Zouzous in Morzine!

Ice-skating:

Rent some skates and enjoy some time on the ice!  Lots of ice rinks offer skating aids for little ones – they will love pushing their penguin/polar bear/reindeer around the ice!

Swimming:

Many ski resorts have indoor swimming pools which can be enjoyed during the winter months!  We love Parc des Dérêches in Morzine and Aquamotion in Courchevel.

Indoor activities

Weather taken a turn for the worse?  Talk to us about other indoor activities – some resorts offer indoor activities such as bowling alleys, climbing walls and cinemas!

Après-ski activities

Many ski resorts have après-ski activities that are suitable for families such as live music, hot chocolate stands, toasting marshmallows over a fire pit, and fireworks displays!
